Crystal*

Walter Dean Myers is the Author for the book called Crystal and can be used in the young adult genre and is considered a multicultural book. the Main character is a girl named Crystal, who is sixteen and accidentally became a model when her church was apart of a commercial and she was discovered. Crystal quickly saw the inside of the modeling business and how it could affect your moral beliefs. She saw what it did to people around her and made a mature decision to back out of that lifestyle and become a teenager again. In this book Myers shows us that even though she was young, she still had strong morals and in a mature decision gave up modeling instead of giving up on herself, it shows the importance of family, and who your real friends are in life. This book is showing how you should love and respect yourself, friendship, and staying true to the beliefs and standards that you set for yourself.
